Client Feedback
In their own words
Daniel Roth
Head of Business Development · Stuttgart, Germany
"We came to Northmere with a fairly vague question — is Thailand the right first step for us in Southeast Asia? The Market Orientation Briefing gave us enough structure to have a proper internal discussion. The written pack was more thorough than I expected at that price point, and the Q&A call was well-prepared. We ended up commissioning the Entry Options Study shortly after."

Sophie Larsson
CFO · Gothenburg, Sweden
"The options matrix was genuinely useful for our board presentation. It was not generic — it reflected our specific company profile and the three routes we were actually considering. Northmere had clearly spent time understanding our context before producing it. The indicative roadmap for each option was a useful complement."
April 2025 · Entry Options Study
Kenji Nakamura
Regional Director · Osaka, Japan
"Our company had some prior exposure to Southeast Asia but not to Thailand specifically. Northmere provided context that was genuinely different from what we had found through our own research — particularly on distribution channels outside Bangkok. I would have appreciated slightly more coverage of northern Thailand in the briefing, but the Q&A call filled most of those gaps."

Anna Müller
Managing Director · Vienna, Austria
"We went through the full Expansion Advisory Engagement over four months. What stood out was the consistency — the same advisor throughout, follow-up notes within a day of each session, and introductions that were actually relevant rather than just token gestures. The entry plan document has been a practical reference for our internal team since the engagement ended."
March 2025 · Expansion Advisory Engagement
Thomas Chen
Expansion Lead · Singapore
"We were based in Singapore and had done some reading about the Thai market, but were unsure how reliable our sources were. The Entry Options Study helped us separate the more substantive routes from the ones that were not realistic for our size and sector. Three weeks was about right for the pace of the work."
April 2025 · Entry Options Study
Helen Burke
COO · Dublin, Ireland
"I appreciated that Northmere was straightforward about what they do not cover. Having worked with advisors who try to stretch beyond their expertise, it was refreshing to have a firm that was clear about scope from the start. Their commercial focus stayed consistent and did not drift into legal or accounting territory."

Client situations and what the advisory produced
Challenge
German machinery manufacturer
A mid-sized manufacturer had received inbound interest from two Thai distributors and was unsure how to evaluate the conversations or whether to pursue them. No one on the team had operated in Southeast Asia before.
Approach
Market Orientation Briefing followed by Entry Options Study. The briefing covered how distribution relationships typically operate in Thailand and what evaluation criteria matter. The options study then compared a distributor-led route against a representative office structure, with effort and cost modelled for their company size.
Outcome
The team arrived at a clear decision to proceed with a distributor-led route, with a shortlist of criteria for evaluating the existing contacts. Timeline from first contact to completed options study: 6 weeks. The company went on to sign a distribution agreement within four months.
"The options study gave us the framing we needed to have the right internal conversations. It was not just information — it was decision-support."
Challenge
Swedish B2B software company
A software company had decided to establish a Thailand presence but had no local operational experience. They needed help working through the set-up phase — office, staffing approach, and local partner criteria — without losing momentum on their product work.
Approach
Expansion Advisory Engagement over four months. Fortnightly sessions covering operational decisions as they arose. Introductions to a Chiang Mai-based legal practice (for structural matters) and two co-working operators in the Nimman area. Documentation of all key decisions in the entry plan as the engagement progressed.
Outcome
The company established a registered entity and had their first two local hires in place by the end of month four. The entry plan document was used as the basis for a board update on the Thailand initiative. The founding team reported that having a local advisory point of contact reduced the number of false starts significantly.
"Having someone in Chiang Mai who knew the local professional landscape was the most valuable part of the engagement."
Challenge
Irish professional services firm
A professional services firm was evaluating whether to hire a local representative in Thailand or partner with an existing regional firm. They had received conflicting advice from different sources and wanted a clearer framework for the decision.
Approach
Entry Options Study focused on the specific question of representation structure. The study compared four models — retained individual, local partnership, associate arrangement, and subsidiary staffing — against the firm's stated criteria: client control, cost, and speed to revenue.
Outcome
The options matrix clarified that two of the four models were not suited to their timeline. The firm proceeded with a retained individual arrangement, using evaluation criteria from the Northmere study. The decision was made within three weeks of the study's completion.
"We had been going around in circles on this decision. The matrix forced us to compare the options against the same criteria, which is what we needed."
